MANSFIELD, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut State field hockey (3-2) earned its third win at home this season with a 3-0 victory over Nichols (3-2) at Rick McCarthy Field on Tuesday (Sept. 15).
Audrey Molin continued her hot start to the season with two goals on the day, giving the junior eight goals on the year.
Grace Barlage collected her second goal of the season and added an assist. The other two assists came from
Sophie Ash and
Ella Rice.
Katie Paradise earned her first win of the season playing a scoreless first half and
Veronica McKenna closed out the first shutout of the season for Eastern.
Early in the second quarter, Eastern earned a penalty corner.
Katie Harrington entered the ball to
Sophie Ash, who passed to Barlage at the top of the circle. Barlage's shot skipped past Nichols' goalie and gave Eastern the 1-0 lead.
In the third, Barlage weaved her way through the Nichols defense before a great pass to Molin, who found the net to make it 2-0.
With less than a minute to play, Rice put the ball back in play to Molin around midfield. Molin took the ball all the way through the Nichols defense to just in front of the goal before netting her second tally of the game.
