MANSFIELD, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut field hockey (4-3) suffered its first home loss of the season, falling to RPI (4-2), 2-1 on Saturday (Sept. 29).
Sophie Ash scored her third goal of the season and
Grace Barlage picked up assist number five but the Warriors could not complete the comeback after allowing the first two goals of the game.
The game was scoreless in the first half but less than three minutes into the second half, RPI struck to put the first goal on the board. Three minutes into the fourth, the Engineers doubled their lead, putting the Warriors in a hole.
Eastern finally broke through with 10 minutes left in the game, as Barlage sent a ball in front of the net from the end line and Ash deflected the ball past RPI's goalkeeper to cut the lead in half.
The Warriors didn't pick up another chance at tying the game as RPI finished the game outshooting Eastern 14-2.
