Emily McKelvey and Brad Balgach Named LEC Rookies of the Week for Soccer Programs, Jack Harmon Earns LEC Goalkeeper of the Week for Men's Soccer

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- In the first weekly Little East Conference awards release, a trio of student-athletes from the Eastern Connecticut State University Men's and Women's Soccer programs earned LEC honors as first-year forward Emily McKelvey was named LEC Rookie of the Week for Women's Soccer, along with first-year defender Brad Balgach earning the same honor for Men's Soccer, while junior goalkeeper Jack Harmon was this week's LEC Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Emily McKelvey - Women's Soccer - Rookie of the Week
In just 111 minutes of action, McKelvey got off to a hot start in her Warrior career, scoring four goals in two games on five shots on goal during a 2-0-0 start to the season for Eastern. Knocking off an NCAA Tournament team from a year ago in St. Joseph's (LI), 5-1, McKelvey had two of the first three goals for the Warriors before scoring both goals in their 2-0 win against Mount Holyoke College on Friday. The first-year player played just 50 minutes against the Golden Eagles, recording three shots and four points, before having 11 shots (three on goal) against the Lyons in 61 minutes, scoring two more goals to cap off an eight-point week.

Jack Harmon - Men's Soccer - Goalkeeper of the Week
Harmon was near-perfect this week for Men's Soccer, going 1-0-0 in net for the Warriors, while allowing no goals goal in three appearances. Harmon played the first half of both the Mitchell and Emerson College matches, allowing no goals, before also playing only the first half against the Rams. In all, Harmon finished with no goals allowed, 12 saves, a 1.000 save percentage, and a 0.00 goals-against average across 135 minutes of action.

Brad Balgach - Men's Soccer - Rookie of the Week
Playing in 171 of a possible 270 minutes this week, Balgach recorded an assist for one point and two shots for Men's Soccer during their 2-1-0 week. Balgach recorded his assist against Mitchell College in a 5-1 win, before being part of the Warrior defense that allowed just five goals across the three games played.
