WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Freshman Katie King (Barkhamsted) won the only event for the Eastern Connecticut State University women's swim team against Keene State College Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center in the Owls' 175-82 victory.

Eastern's (3-1) King won the 50 yard breaststroke in a time of 32.56 and also had the second-fastest time in the 100 individual medley (1:06.05).

Keene (6-1) swimmers had the fastest times in all 12 individual events and both relays, going 1-2 in 12 events and 1-2-3 in three events. 

Seven different Keene swimmers recorded individual titles. Sophomore Diana Pimer won the 400 individual medley and 200 breaststroke and also posted the fastest time in the 100 individual medley on an exhibition basis. She also swam the  second leg of the winning 400 medley relay.

Junior Erin McVeigh (Windsor) touched the wall in third place in three events for Eastern: 400 individual medley (5:00.92), 50 freestyle (26.20) and 100 freestyle (56.92). Others recording third-place finishers were juniors Michelle Schapp (Torrington) in the 200 freestyle (2:05.26), Marissa Colley (East Haven) in the 200 backstroke (2:19.22) and Colleen King (Barkhamsted) in the 50 butterfly (29.28) and sophomore Abby Arisco (Wallingford) in the 200 butterfly (2:29.72).

Katie King, undefeated (3-0) in the 50 breaststroke this season, edged Keene freshman Corrina Nickerson by .02 at the finish in that event. King was this year's 100 breastsstroke winner last month at the Little East Conference Championships.

Sophomore Julie Trodden won the 200 and 500 freestyle and junior Alexis Houser claimed the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly. Houser also contributed to the 200 freestyle relay which recorded the fastest time on an exhibition basis.

Eastern, which was competing officially for the first time in more than a month, visits the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
