Box Score FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Eastern Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team was held to only two goals after taking its final lead of the match in the final seconds of the first quarter in a 6-5 non-conference loss to Farmingdale State College Friday afternoon.
Eastern (2-3) led twice by a goal, the second time on a goal by junior Michael Dellanno (Wakefield, MA) with three seconds left in the first quarter. Farmingdale (4-2) gave up only two Eastern goals over the final 45 minutes, however.
Farmingdale broke the second and final tie of the match with the only goal of the third quarter with five minutes remaining.
Eastern was whistled for only one penalty in the match but connected on only one of five man-up opportunities in losing for the first time in three matches.
Junior Blake Smaldone (Hamilton, MA) made seven saves, senior defenseman Travis Tiger (Ridgefield) picked up seven ground balls and sophomore Jesse Schulze (Croton-on-Hudson, NY) won seven of 14 faceoffs. Five players had one goal for Eastern, with senior Chris Barnett (Wilton) and senior Zach Tresher (Somers) each scoring once and adding an assist.
Eastern visits Wheaton College (MA) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
