Men's Soccer: Warriors Look to Extend Long Home Winning Streak Against UMD

Team Records:
Eastern: Overall: 7-4-0 / Conference: 3-0-0
UMass Dartmouth: Overall: 6-5-1 / Conference: 2-1-1

Game Preview: This will be the 62nd matchup between the Corsairs and Warriors. In the first two meetings, the Warriors dominated the Corsairs in the NAIA tournament by scores of 4-0 (1968) and 6-1 (1969). Since 1972, the Corsairs and Warriors have met at least once every year, including four LEC tournament meetings (2009-2013), all of which the Warriors won, and two of which were for the LEC championship (2012 & 2013). Last year, the Warriors played spoiler when they beat the Corsairs on Senior day at Cressy Field, defeating the Corsairs 3-1. The Warriors enter the 62nd match of this storied series looking to extend their unbeaten streak against the Corsairs to six, and their 2025 conference record to 4-0. The Warriors are 22-6-4 all time at home against the Corsairs, not losing at home since 2014. Overall, the Warriors have not lost to the Corsairs since 2017. In conference play, Eastern currently leads the LEC in scoring average (2.667), and total assists (9). Furthermore, Eliot Melgar currently leads the conference in shots on goal (7), Sebastian Kadlof leads the conference in assists (3), and Ben Syphrett is fifth in points (5). Overall, the Warriors as a team lead the conference in saves (51) and save percentage (.810). Eastern currently stands in second place in the Little East Conference, with none other than the Corsairs right on their tail in third place. Should the Corsairs emerge victorious, they would overtake the Warriors for second place by one point. Should the Warriors emerge victorious, they would stay three points behind Western Connecticut. If Southern Maine can snap its 13-game winless streak against Western Connecticut -- pulling off one of the greatest upsets since Greece defeated Portugal in the 2004 Euro tournament -- then the Warriors would tie Western Connecticut for first place.
