Women's Soccer: Warriors Look to Extend Winning Ways at Home Against Owls

Team Records:
Eastern: 2-1-2
Westfield State: 1-3-1

Last meeting: After digging an early 3-0 hole, the Warriors surged late in the second half, but it was too little too late as the Owls came away with the 3-2 win. It was the Owls' first home win against the Warriors since 2011

Last meeting at Rick McCarthy Field: Katelyn Herbert's goal in the 7th minute lifted the Warriors to a 1-0 victory in 2023. Arianna Tomassi was credited with an assist on the goal, recording her first collegiate career point.

Series History: This will be the 30th meeting all-time, with the series dating back nearly 40 years to 1986. Both teams have been the hosts and visitors exactly 14 times in this series. The teams also met at a neutral site at the Springfield Invite in 2010. The Warriors and Owls played 15 consecutive matches from 1986-2001 before the series had a nine-year hiatus. From 2010-2017, the teams played 9 consecutive matches before taking another 4-year hiatus. This will be the 5th straight year the teams have played since 2021. This is also the fourth time the team will face Westfield State under head coach Sarah Tompkins. Tompkins owns a 2-1 record against Westfield State. The Warriors own a 10-3 all-time home record against the Owls, and have shut out the Owls twice in the last three matches.

Impact Players:
Lilly Simpson (Sr., F): Coming into this game, Simpson owns the most career assists among active players with 6. Simpson also currently shares the team lead for assists (2) and shots on goal (5) through 5 games this season.

Michaela Gasparri (Fy., F): The only first-year player to play in and start all five games this season, Gasparri has been on a roll as of late. Just last week, Gasparri was named LEC Rookie of the Week for scoring 3 goals in 2 wins against the University of St. Joseph and Simmons University.

Who Knew? – Eastern's Brooke Bolles and Jordan Fabry, and Westfield State's Leah Burchman won their conference championship together in high school while at NFA in 2023, now they find themselves competing against each other for the first time in their collegiate careers.
