Team Records/Playoff Seed:
Eastern Connecticut: 8-7 / #3
Keene State College: 7-10 / #6
Series History:Â
In a back-and-forth 40-match history between the programs, Eastern leads, 21-19. The Warriors won the first eight matches but since Eastern claimed 14 of the first 15, the Owls have dominated the series by winning 18 of the last 25.
Since losing ten in a row to the Owls, the Warriors have won the last two –- 15-9 in the first round of last year's LEC playoffs at the Owl Athletic Complex and 13-12 at Rick McCarthy Field April 15.
In last year's Eastern playoff win, the No. 5 Warriors raced to a 7-1 lead after 17 minutes, pushed the lead to seven (9-2) by halftime and never allowed the No. 4 hosts to score as many as three goals in a row as the Warriors stopped a four-game LEC playoff losing skid at the hands of Keene, and re-gained the all-time series lead with 20 wins against 19 losses in the process.
In Eastern's regular-season win this year, the Warriors  trailed by four after Keene scored the opening four goals over the first three minutes of the match, and after whittling the deficit to one midway through the second quarter, fell back by six, 11-5, after the Owls took control by closing the first half with the final three goals and opening the second half with the first two. The final 24 minutes of the match, however, belonged to Eastern – or more specially, its defense – as the Warriors outscored the Owls 8-1 the rest of the way.
Recent Games: Â
- Â Eastern won six of its last seven LEC regular-season matches, losing in that stretch only to defending champion and No. 1 seed WestConn, 17-6, six days ago at McCarthy Field. The Warriors opened the LEC season with a 14-5 home loss to the University of Southern Maine, the playoff's No. 2 seed.
- In its final LEC regular-season match Saturday, Eastern remained unbeaten against VTSU Castleton in the all-time series with a 17-5 win at Dave Wolk Stadium. Against Castleton, Maizie Rukat made her third straight start in goal for the Warriors, splitting time with Kasi DaCruz. DaCruz has appeared in six of the team's last seven matches in net, starting three.
- The win at Castleton evened the Warriors' road record at 4-4 this year after the team had lost its first four road contests.
- Keene has rallied for a 7-5 record since dropping its first five of the year. The Owls had a two-game winning streak snapped with a regular-season-ending 18-6 loss at WestConn, which gave the Wolves an unbeaten LEC season. The two previous wins had come at home, against Plymouth State University, 12-10, and Castleton, 17-6.
- Against WestConn, the Wolves scored six extra-man goals thanks to Keene's five green and three yellow cards and reeled off 12 unanswered goals to erase Keene's early 4-3 lead.
