Baseball: Warriors Tune Up for LEC Tournament by Closing With Violets

First ever meeting with New York University. The Violets are led by head coach Doug Kimbler in his 12th season, father of Teige Kimbler of the Warriors.

Recent Games:  
  • The Warriors are 2-2 in their last four games, suffering a heavy 18-5 defeat against nationally ranked Endicott College before defeating Western Connecticut in eight innings at home. On Friday, the Warriors split a doubleheader against Little East Conference regular season champion and nationally-ranked University of Southern Maine. AJ Rooks pitched four hitless innings to help the Warriors to a 10-3 win in game one. Southern Maine totaled 16 hits in the second game, winning 19-8 in eight innings
  • The Violets are also 2-2 in their last four games, losing a pair against the University of Chicago in back-to-back days. Both games finished 13-10, but Game 1  had a combined 17 hits and eight errors, while game two had 31 hits and no errors. Since then, the Violets dominated in two non-conference games, defeating Mount Saint Mary College 16-4 and The City College of New York 19-4.
Game Notes:
  • Kosta Mocklis leads the Violets in several categories, with the best OPS (1.183), runs (41), triples (2), home runs (11), and RBIs (50) on the team
  • CJ Franchini is another major threat for the Violets, owning a .395 batting average and hitting 12 doubles this season
  • Ian Moser remains a top offensive option for the Warriors, hitting .398 with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs. Matthew Carrera moves into the lead with 54 hits (one more than Moser) after going 4-4 in Game 1 against Southern Maine
