WATERFORD, Conn. – In their final tuneup for the Little East Conference Championships in two weeks, the Eastern Connecticut State University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the highly-competitive Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park.
In a 21-team field which included three of the first six team finishers in last year's New England Regional, the Eastern women placed 14th; in a 20-team field which included four of last year's ten regional finishers, the Eastern men came in 16th.
The women's five scoring runners crossed the finish line with 78 seconds of each other among 259 runners over the 6,000 meter layout: senior captain Mariah McPhee (Bristol), sophomore Samantha McKosky (Deep River), juniors Kassandrah Banks (Wethersfield) and Amanda Terenzi (Coventry, RI), and sophomore Ariel Smith (Stratford). McPhee was 58th overall (23:55), McKosky 69th (24:08), Banks 82nd (24:24), Terenzi 94th (24:45), and Smith 110th (25:13).
For the men, junior Noah Hallisey (East Lyme), senior captain Chris Armstrong (Bolton) and junior Cooper Goslin (South Windsor) finished within 32 seconds among 241 competitors. Hallisey was 77th overall (27:26), Armstrong 79th (27:31) and Goslin 90th (27:58). Rounding out the top five were senior Mike Underwood (Farmington) and junior Max Armstrong (Ledyard). Underwood was 106th overall (28:59) and Max Armstrong (29:22).
