A winner of 102 races in dual meet competition in seven different events over a four-year career, Amy M. Golas has become the first representative of the swim program to be selected for induction. The program’s first “impact” recruit, Golas earned countless institutional and regional athletic and academic awards, highlighted in her final season as the recipient of the prestigious Kay Fromer Award as the senior who compiled the most career points in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II-III Championships. Golas broke seven individual program records in her freshman season, was undefeated in dual meet competition as a sophomore, claimed the NEISDA championship in the 50 yard butterfly as a junior and won NEISDA titles in the 50 and 100 yard butterfly and 50 yard freestyle as a senior. Golas was undefeated in duals in the 50 yard butterfly in her career and concluded as the program record-holder in seven individual events and partnered on all five record-setting relays.  As a senior, Golas became the program’s first ECAC Open qualifier, competing in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. She also qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III national championships that year.In all, Golas earned All-NEISDA accolades eight times and achieved All-Little East Conference status nine times in the freestyle and butterfly events and relays. She was a two-time team captain, the first of only two four-time team MVPs in program history, shared the department’s Female Athlete-of-the-Year Award as a senior, and qualified for an E-Club Scholar-Athlete Award in both years of eligibility.
