One of the very best all-around softball athletes in program history, Trish K. Wodatch was a starter at shortstop and center field on teams which won NCAA Division III national championships in 1985 and ’86, four regional flags between 1983 and ’86 and posted an overall .802 winning percentage. Wodatch’s most distinctive individual accomplishments include having started all 167 games in her four-year career and a brilliant senior season in which she gained first-team NCAA Division III All-America honors, was nominated for the prestigious Broderick Sports Award as the only Division III softball nominee in the nation, led or shared the team lead in 13 individual categories and set or equaled nine program records. That year, Wodatch hit safely in 41 of 47 games, with her 69 hits ranking her second nationally in Division III and first in New England at all levels. The starting shortstop in 1985 and starting centerfielder in ’86, Wodatch was named to the national tournament all-tournament team both years, batting a composite .342 in 12 games. At the completion of her career, the Meriden native held or shared 12 program career records, among them hits (177), total bases (240), RBI (83), and runs (120). Through 1998, Wodatch’s senior season totals for hits, singles (51) and total bases (98) remain season records.
