Jeffrey W. Anderson was a four-year member of the basketball program and served 12 seasons in the nationally-renowned softball program before passing away November 11, 1992 at the age of 33. A native of Fairfield, Anderson served seven seasons as an assistant to Hall of Fame coach Clyde Washburne in the softball program before assuming the head coaching reins from 1988 through 1992. As head coach, Anderson won just under 80 percent of his 214 games, leading the Warriors to an overall record of 171-43, five regional titles and the 1990 Division III national title. He reached the 100-win plateau faster than any coach in New England softball history, needing just 119 contests. As an assistant coach, Anderson played a key role as Eastern won four national titles. As an undergraduate, Anderson was a three-year regular in basketball and a member of the program’s first ECAC tournament qualifier in 1980/81.
