George “Jet” Dargati totaled 1,248 points in a 51-game career which spanned three seasons. Boasting a school-record 24.5 career scoring average, the 5-foot-11 inch lefty led Willimantic State to berths in two New England Teachers College Conference (NETCC) tournaments, including its first conference post-season title in 1958-59. As a second-year junior, Dargati led all Connecticut collegiate scorers with a 25.8 average. A two-time NETCC all-star, the Thompson native averaged 22.4 points through the first 12 games of the 1959-60 season before a broken ankle cut short his final season. In baseball, Dargati lettered in 1959, batting .354 with 19 RBIs in 14 games.
