Darcy Mund LucasDarcy L. Mund Lucas was the first four-time All-Little East Conference selection for the women’s basketball program and a starter on teams which captured nearly 80 percent of their conference regular-season games.

The 5-foot-4 inch Marlborough native started 106 of her team’s 107 games between 1998 and 2002 -- starting the first 32 and final 74 -- and led the Warriors in assists every season and in steals and minutes three times. She earned LEC Rookie-of-the-Year honors as a freshman in 1998-99 and eventually became the first four-time All-LEC selection in program history. She topped the LEC in assists three times, was second once and ranked in the top six in steals every season.

Mund becomes the third E-Club Hall of Famer under current 22-year head coach Denise Bierly, joining four-time All-America and former teammate Allison Coleman ’04 in 2013 and Jen Zabek ’99 last year.

With Mund – a three-time All-State selection at RHAM High School in Hebron – Eastern  won 76.6 percent of its games overall (82-25) and 78.6 percent of its Little East regular-season contests (44-12). The Warriors averaged 20.5 wins per year in this four-year period, winning more than 20 games, sharing the LEC regular-season title, and qualifying for the NCAA Division III tournament in each of Mund’s final two seasons.

In Mund’s senior season, Eastern won 26 games and lost only three – setting a program season record for wins and establishing the best winning percentage (.897) in a season in 29 years. On a team which won its first 11 games and later 14 in a row through the semifinal round of the LEC tournament, Mund averaged 8.2 points and 4.1 assists

Mund took over the point guard position in the fall of 1998 following the graduation of four-year starter Shannon Kindelan, and helped the Warriors to their first post-season tournament (ECAC) in three years. As only a freshman, she scored in double figures 17 times and handed out eight or more assists five times, finishing as the LEC leader with a 5.2 assist average to go along with a 10.8 scoring average and career-highs of 72 steals and 44 three-point field goals in becoming the program’s first LEC Rookie-of-the-Year in seven years.

According to former teammate and backcourt partner Meghan Phelps Martelli, Mund was an infectious presence on the court and in the locker room, a leader who was easy to follow and offered a perfect balance of competitiveness and enjoyment of the game. Martelli noted that Mund was an exceptional athlete who had a love and respect for the game of basketball and received strong family support throughout her career. Martelli characterized Mund as a player who saw the floor well, could both distribute the ball and score, and was a tough, aggressive defender.

In the team’s first loss of her freshman season, Mund had one of the top all-around games of her career with 16 points, a career-high 11 assists and five steals. Both of her career 20-point games came in the final month of her first season: 21 in an 18-point win at Connecticut College and 20 on the final day of the regular-season in a 20-point LEC victory at Plymouth State.

In her career, the two-time team captain collected eight or more assists 18 times and recorded at least four steals 27 times.

Mund graduated as the program’s all-time leader in assists (539), and was second in assists per game (5.0), third in steals (271) and three-point field goals (124), fourth in three-point percentage (.316), and ninth in points (1,057).

Mund holds a B.S. Degree in Physical Education and is employed as a personal trainer. Mund and husband Erik reside in Venice, FL.
