At the time of her induction, Jennifer M. (Ferrari) Hynes ’05 was the only player in the history of the women’s soccer program to lead the team in goals and points in four consecutive seasons.

A native of Coventry, RI, Ferrari was named second-team NSCAA All-New England Region twice in her career between 2001 and 2004 and to the NEWISA Senior Classic as a senior in leading the Warriors to four straight post-season tournament berths, their first Little East Conference regular-season and first Little East playoff championships and to their winningest four-year period (13.3 wins per year) in program history.

Named All-New England Region at forward in 2002 and at midfield in 2004, Ferrari overcame a serious knee injury to gain All-Little East Conference honors in all four years -- three times as a first-team selection – and earn recognition as LEC Offensive Player-of-the-Year as a senior when she tied her personal-best of 15 goals and set season-highs of 13 assists (a season record at that point) and 43 points.

An early, signature recruit for current 20th-year head coach Chris D’Ambrosio – a second-year head coach upon Ferrari’s arrival at Eastern -- Ferrari went on to be ranked at the time of her graduation second all-time in goals, points and game-winning goals, and third in assists. Through 2018, she is ranked second all-time in goals (49), points (124) and shots (247), third in game-winning goals (19), tied for third in starts (75), and fifth in assists (26). She currently holds three of the Top 10 season totals for goals and three of the Top 10 season marks for points and has the second-highest assist total. Twice, she scored three goals in a match.

Ferrari helped the program to four straight post-season tournament berths and to the Little East Conference regular-season and playoff championships as a junior. In that four-year stretch, the Warriors lost only four of 28 Little East regular-season matches – exactly one loss each year – and never finished lower than second in the standings.

Having lost all five previous contests in the all-time series against rival Keene State College prior to Ferrari’s arrival, the Warriors downed the Owls on Keene’s home field in an LEC battle of ranked New England teams, 3-1, in mid-October of Ferrari’s freshman season (Ferrari assisted on the first goal seven minutes into play). Two years later, in 2003, Eastern again beat Keene on the Owls’ home field on penalty kicks following 120 scoreless minutes in the championship game to win its first LEC crown. Ferrari took and made the first PK attempt as the Warriors made all five of their tries in the shootout round.

With the program averaging less than nine wins per year the previous four years and coming off a losing record in 2000, Ferrari helped the team to 13 wins as a freshman in 2001 and a record (later broken) 15 wins in 2002 and another 15-win season in her senior season. Her 13 assists in 2004 held up as a season record for eight years and her 43 points that year remain the third-highest mark in a season in program history. In her senior season, she also equaled the program record by scoring at least one point in 14 matches.

Limited to six goals as a junior, Ferrari returned strong as a senior. That year, the Warriors opened with a 9-1-1 record in their first 11 matches, with Ferrari netting nine goals (five game-winners) and adding seven assists in that stretch. Perhaps the most heralded goal scored by Ferrari in her career came in mid-September of her sophomore year when she sent Eastern to its only win in a 13-game stretch in the all-time series against nationally-ranked Amherst College with the only goal of the match eight minutes into overtime.

With Ferrari, Eastern was ranked in the New England weekly Top Ten 32 times and in the weekly national Top 25 seven times. The team’s top national ranking (12th) came following the 9-1-1 start in 2004. Three times, the club was ranked as high as No. 2 in New England, twice in succession following a 10-1-0 start in 2002 and once at the start of the 2004 campaign.

Ferrari holds a B.S. Degree in Physical Education from Eastern and an M.S. Degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut. For the past 14 years, Ferrari has taught physical education in the Groton Public Schools system and resides in her hometown with husband, Brendan, and two young sons.
