In a three-year career between 2004 and 2006, Marianna (Capomolla) Linnehan '07 was named Little East Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year, first-team All-LEC, and LEC tournament MVP in both 2005 and 2006, and to the NEWVA Senior Classic as a senior captain. She remains Eastern’s only two-time LEC tournament MVP and only LEC Defensive Player-of-the-Year. In her first season in 2004, she was a second-team All-LEC pick. Linnehan appeared in 391 of a possible 420 sets in her career, setting a program season record in 2005 by appearing in 142 (of a possible 146) sets in helping the Warriors to a share of their second straight LEC regular-season title and to their first of three straight LEC tournament titles. Despite playing only three years, Linnehan remains the program’s all-time leader in digs and ranks sixth all-time in service aces. Since digs became an official Eastern stat in 1988, players have recorded as many as 40 in a match six times. Linnehan owns three of those 40-dig matches, including the top two. Linnehan teaches health and physical education at Greenwich High School and resides in Stamford with husband, Matthew, and two young children.
