Robert Wojick’s 22-year association with the baseball program is the longest by an individual other than Hall of Fame coach Bill Holowaty. Wojick, a Willimantic native, lettered under Holowaty during the latter’s first three seasons at Eastern before joining the coaching ranks following graduation in 1971. A dedicated worker, “No. 4” remained by Holowaty’s side for the next 19 seasons – gaining notoriety as the premier third base coach in Division III – before stepping down after the 1990 national championship season. Off the field, Wojick was instrumental in numerous projects and fund-raising ventures. In September of 1990, Wojick’s sleeveless playing jersey and home white coaching jersey were officially retiring during ceremonies on Alumni Day. Wojick’s contributions helped the Warriors to 22 consecutive post-season and six national tournament appearances and two national titles. As a player, Wojick played outfield and compiled a .293 lifetime average with nine home runs and 44 RBI in 205 at-bats.
